Rhug Estate in Corwen, North Wales, has established strong links with prospective customers in Poland following a visit to Warsaw earlier this month.

The trip was supported by the Welsh Assembly and Hybu Cig Cymru and it was Rhug’s first step into the European market.

Lord Newborough and his team were invited to Poland following a successful tour of the estate in March by Polish Embassy representatives, food bloggers and high-profile journalists.

Rhug’s meat was showcased at a dinner at The Bristol Hotel which was attended by the Polish Ambassador and leading people from the food industry in Warsaw, and again at the Queen’s birthday celebrations at the British Embassy which played host to over 1,000 guests.

Having met with a number of influential figures in the Polish food and drink industry, including the British Ambassador, Lord Newborough exhibited Rhug Estate award-winning Rhug Organic Farm Aberdeen Angus Beef and Organic Lamb to prospective customers at the British Business Centre in Warsaw.

Lord Newborough, owner of Rhug Estate, said, “We have raised awareness of premium Welsh organic meat to a country which was largely unaware of Wales’ rich food and drink offering. It is hoped that this trip will help in taking the taste of Wales even further afield.”

He continued, “At the Rhug Estate, we are committed to putting North Wales on the international map. A true field-to-plate operation and an example of sustainable farming at its best, we find it encouraging to see overseas markets appreciate the quality of meat that is produced on the estate.”

Over the last 15 years, the Rhug Estate brand has become well recognised for producing meat of outstanding quality and flavour. The Rhug Estate already supplies its Welsh produce to 20 Michelin starred restaurants in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and it is committed to establishing more links with global markets.
