Rhug 2016 WOR Event
Gethin Humphreys was in unstoppable form at WOR's latest event as the Michelin XCE series for 2016 got off to a super wet and muddy start.
The venue, Rhug Estate, Corwen, has been described as, 'quite possibly one of the best venues yet for a Cross Country Enduro,' but the typical British Bank Holiday weather came into play and tried to ruin the party as conditions became very muddy to say the least.
The event also doubled up as the annual Aled Evans Memorial Shield and after winning it last Year, Gethin Humphreys was in no mood to let it go to someone else and simply powered away at the front of the pack on the 2t Husky. There were some riders there that could not master the muddy and slippery terrain but Gethin made it look like it was bone dry, putting on a show for the other riders to marvel at and prove that the sticky going was in fact totally rideable if you gave it the beans!!Neil Chatam made the long journey down from Scotland and took the Runners Up spot with another fine ride on his 450 Honda MX bike showing great speed and style in the mud.
Because of the severity of the underground conditions the race ran shorter than the planned time but there was not too many unhappy faces to see the early chequered flag from race boss Steve Ireland.
A massive well done goes to all the riders that finished and an even bigger pat on the back goes to the riders that made the podium especially the youth riders with the little wheels.
We must also congratulate Rhug Estate Farm Manager, Gareth Jones, who came 3rd in his category.
